I started out with the same adrenaline rush. I couldn’t get my fingers to stop shaking so I just except it as part of the warm up. On the second day I was shooting very well. The dice looked good and were falling very well. I had several good rolls and played the Big Skinny the entire time. I started really feeling comfortable at the table and used all of the GTC tools I have gathered from all the instructors. I slowed myself down and when I was relaxed things started to click. The long and short of it is I came away winning three thousand and my last humbling experience in Reno was more than balanced out by this trip. I had no heat the entire time. I played only at sl1 and if the table didn’t feel right, I left. The third day I was beat. I started chasing it and remembered what I have heard so many times. Walk away. I kept a low profile and when comments were made by the crew or the other players, I just mentioned the book I read.
I know that I am on the right track and that all the hours of practice are paying off. It’s not easy but I see a little of the light and will continue to work at it. I regret I can’t make it to Vegas for the next class but wish all of you the best. I will be there in spirit. Thanks again GTC for all of the support and good advice I have received.
I am finally taming the gambler in me. I made the right bets and stuck to the five count. I just need to keep practicing and practicing. We especially liked the part about the fact that this trip made up for the losses in Reno. What this tells us is that we are in this for the long run. As we say in class we are "300 hitters." We won’t win every time but if we do as you described we will win in the long run. The analogy that I like is "if you are a 300 hitter in Major League Baseball you will earn $20,000,000 a year."

We find that we win much more with each winning session or trip than we might lose in a losing session or trip.

Congratulation for recognizing when it is not going good to walk away and take a break—you can always come back later. A hard thing to do. In Vegas the casinos are always open.

Keep up the good work. We hope to see you in the casinos soon.

Alligator Rose and Doc

Posted by: TommyC on October 10, 2013, 1:31 pm

Good job. That being said I have always believed in better living through chemistry (that was one of my majors in college) and that brings up the use of anti-anxiety drugs. If you have a physician that is cooperative you might try these as they work wonders. I do a lot of training and speaking in front of groups but when I used to have to address large audiences it was a different story. I weak anti-anxiety med taken about 20 minutes before a big speech and I was as smooth ad silk. They work for craps as well.

Posted by: TheLion on October 11, 2013, 3:28 pm

I get the shakes too on my first roll or 2. I am gaining confidence and really love the fact that I have a very good understanding of my betting strategy and payouts. It has really made a difference and I have GTC to thank for that. I thank Doc for his two cents on these matters as well. I kept him with me the whole time I was in Vegas. Don’t chase it and make sure the winning sessions are big and the losing sessions are smaller. Thanks to all of you at GTC. Tommy, one day we will shoot together in the casino. Get ready.
