Best Pizza in Las Vegas?

Spread the love

According to claims this may be it. http://metropizza.com/ We may have to order this stuff in for Friday night in June.

The pizza at NY-NY is not bad either.

Before all you East coaster go pizza-nazi on this, this is just for pizza on the West Coast. ๐Ÿ˜€

best pizza in vegas is grimaldi’s hands down

Posted by: Stickman on April 4, 2012, 3:28 pm

Pit Boss,

We have had Metro Pizza on Friday nights when our class was held at the previous location. It is excellent! Unfortunately, Brothelman, Grimaldi’s are nowhere near Alexis Park.

Please, I beg you, please stop making me hungry. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ™‚
On that note, though, does anyone know the best pizza in AC? Will be there soon and would love to get a slice or ten… ๐Ÿ˜€
I bet Jumbotron would have that info.

Posted by: Pit Boss on April 4, 2012, 4:29 pm

I don’t think I have ever had any bad food of any kind in AC, especially if it has dough in it. The bread on the East Coast is really great.

Stickman; we’ll just have to move the meetings to Summerlin or Spring Valley.

Pizza on the West Coast is an oxymoron.

Sorry PB, despite your request, I could not resist ๐Ÿ˜†

There’s a pizza joint in Philly that is the best… Awesome crust, aewsome sauce and little puddles of greasy oil in the curled up pepperoni… Mmmmm!

East Coast health food at it’s finest!

Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the joint… ๐Ÿ˜ณ

But here’s how to find it:

1. Stop at the Irish pub on the corner in the Philly pier district and drink two pints of Guinness.

2. Drive around the area seeing the sights, architecture and historical landmarks.

3. About the time you need to use the restroom, pull over and go into the pizza joint that’ll be right there.

4. That’s the place… You’ve found it! Just an OK bathroom, but AWESOME pizza!

Maybe they’ll deliver to AC or LV… ๐Ÿ˜‰

How was the pizza at the AC meet n greet that is my personal favorite in AC. Chelsea II is the name and it is smack dead in the middle of the hood. It is open to 4 AM and they have some really big slices. My favorite all time was Ray’s original next door to the Polladium.

Say, Jumbo, what casino is the Chelsea next to?

Ai yi yi, Madre del Dio !!!

If you can not fold the slice in half and pick it up to eat it with one hand, it is not pizza.

Just when you thought the argument had been settled…the LV Sun puts out an article about Dom DeMarcos Pizza in Summerlin.

Some paraphrases from the Article "Thereโ€™s no questioning the pizza pedigree at this joint, and Dom DeMarcoโ€™s does it with all the right ingredients: hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes, Grana Padano cheese and imported Italian olive oil. The thin-crust, New York-style pizzaโ€”excellent with just cheese and basilโ€”should be catapulted into the Best Pizza in Vegas discussion. "

I don’t know. Girmaldi’s has a brick oven and DeMarco’s looks like one of those fancy metal ovens. Brick oven is tough to beat.

But I have an open mind and can be talked into trying them both. In fact maybe we should try them both twice just to be fair in case the first time is an off day.

Do they import the New York water? That’s what makes the best pizza and bagels! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Goddess

I got the following from their website:

The grimaldi’s difference

Brick Oven – Designed and built by hand, the coal-fired oven at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria delivers a unique flavor and consistency that is just not possible from wood or gas ovens. Weighing in at 25 tons and heated by 100 pounds of coal per day (cleanest burning fuel available and environmentally tested), the oven heats up to 1200 degrees. We also purchase special coal from Pennsylvania called anthracite. It actually burns cleaner and more Eco-friendly than gas or wood-fired methods. Every month we ship the coal in by railroad and distribute to our locations. The intense heat of the oven and coal evenly bakes the pies to create Grimaldi’s famous crispy and smoky crust that Zagat has voted best pizza year after year.

Stoking in Progress – To help maintain the integrity of our pizza, we re-light the fire at 4pm everyday (actual start times may vary from day to day). This process is called stoking. While we โ€œstokeโ€, we cordially invite you to enjoy a drink from the bar and a tasty starter from our menu. Sit back, relax and enjoy the beginnings of your Grimaldiโ€™s experience!

Something in the Water – It has been said that the secret to true New York-style pizza is the water. Grimaldi’s believes that too, going to great lengths to keep the integrity of the water used in the Brooklyn pizzeria by hiring a chemist to analyze and recreate the mineral content and exact composition of the water. A custom water system pumping โ€œNew York waterโ€ is installed in every Grimaldiโ€™s Pizzeria to ensure that the dough tastes as authentically New York as possible.

Posted by: Scan on April 6, 2012, 12:41 pm

Grimaldi is of course from NYC but……

One of the best pizza places in NYC is in the Dongan Hills area of Staten Island in a little place callrd Lee’s Tavern. It has been there forever. It also has a coal fired oven. One of the few still in NYC.

There is also a great place in Coney Island, Totonno’s i think that is also coal fired.

I couldn’t figure out why I could not open Scan’s link on my laptop until I tried it on my IPhone. Then I realized he posted the link for a mobile device because it begins with "m.youtube.com"

Here is the link for either a PC or mobile device.

B-man where is Grimaldi’s located? How close to the strip?

Posted by: Stephen C on April 12, 2012, 3:19 pm

Not anywhere close to the Strip. Near where my favorite place, the Hawaiian Plantation House, use to be on S. Eastern Ave. The Plantation House is no longer in Biz, and I haven’t been able to find where they went. Fantastic Calamari. Anyone knows where those guys went after closing, if they’re still in Vagas, I would be eternally grateful.

But on that link it says, "Coming Soon". It is not open yet.

On that same link it says there is supposed to be one in the Fashion Show Mall which is on the Strip, north of The Mirage and across the Strip from the Wynn.

Posted by: Stephen C on April 15, 2012, 11:30 am

Did not see the other one. Thanks for the correction Bguy

Posted by: brothelman on April 15, 2012, 2:55 pm

I am just currious what you all think about the pizza after you try it if you try it

Posted by: Dragboatracer on April 15, 2012, 3:49 pm

I will be trying it and I will let you know Bman.

Posted by: Stickman on May 31, 2012, 10:56 pm

Brothelman,

Not being someone who takes just anybody’s word for it, I stopped at Grimaldi’s pizza when I was in Las Vegas recently. While it was superb, I still prefer Metro Pizza. I know, I know, this is a very subjective rating, and I am not from New York, but Metro Pizza just tastes more like what I think New York pizza tastes (or should taste).

Probably the only way to resolve the issue is to try both of them side-by-side.

Posted by: brothelman on June 1, 2012, 2:12 am

I was at the grimaldis in the mall at fashion show the other day it was not as good as the eastern store the oven looked different.

I wonder if they need to use a different oven in the mall for fire and venting?

next time in i will try metro.

Posted by: Stickman on June 1, 2012, 11:54 am

I tried the Grimaldi’s on Rampart. Like I say, it was superb – just not what I think of when I think of NY pizza. I even had difficulty folding the slice – but that could be a different issue ๐Ÿ™„ Give Metro a try. I would be very interested in hearing your opinion, Brothelman.

Posted by: brothelman on June 6, 2012, 5:28 am

There is a new pizza king in town and his name is naked city pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow the sauce has a hint of tomato garlic basil, the cheese is fresh graded to keep in the oils, the flavor of the cheese is exelent, texture stingy but soft and now for the crust i am not a fan of thicker crusts but this one has an airy sour dough like freshness i mean i got some blue cheese and was dippin the crust it was so good.

I still have not tried metro but i wll and i will give my opion of it then.

You acould fold these slices stick the place is new and it is there to stay triple d gave it a great review You know the blond guy on dinners drive ins and dives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Stickman on June 6, 2012, 2:34 pm

Brothelman,

I tried to find this place when I was in Las Vegas trying Grimaldi’s. I think I found the building (it had "Naked City Pizza" on a sign on the building, but when I went in it looked like just a small little dive bar. I could not find the pizza outlet.

I LOVE triple D. Guy Fieri finds some great places I wouldn’t even think of trying. I look forward to actually trying some Naked City Pizza on my next visit!

Posted by: brothelman on June 6, 2012, 3:48 pm

You where there stick that is the place i thought we too had the wrong joint.

the kitchen is located on the left wall in the back middle just a window.

Posted by: brothelman on July 6, 2012, 5:02 am

did anyone try either grimalidies or naked city pizza?

Posted by: Stickman on July 6, 2012, 12:02 pm

I went back to Naked City Pizza. It is very tasty, but has a very thick crust so I was not as impressed with it as Grimaldi’s. I still think the pizza at Ellis Island (Metro Pizza) is the best – but that is just one opinion, Bman.
