AC REPORT 1/28-1/31/2014

Spread the love

We returned Friday from another session in AC. One of the things I love about going there is how many of the dealers and supervisors go up to Sandtrap to ask how he is, and tell him how wonderful he looks. This trip was no different, as several dealers and supervisors were working this week who were not around the previous week. When one said, "It’s good to see you," Sandtrap replied, "It’s good to be here!" These trips always raise his spirits.

Tuesday, for whatever reason, was unusually busy at our casino. Late morning we both had two rolls in an hour: Sandtrap had an 11 and a 10; I rolled a 16 and an 11, both of which were good money makers with all 6’s and 8’s. I always use the hardways set, and although it is used to prevent the 7 and isn’t used to get specific numbers, when my technique is in good form, I do tend to repeat the 6 and 8 so I can make money on even very short rolls. During our trip with Mr. Finesse, he had noticed something in my toss, and I was working on correcting it in front of a mirror at home.

The rest of the day was difficult to get on craps and Pai Gow. The tables were so crowded, we tried mini baccarrat for something new, and ended with video poker. Sandtrap also started to have a problem with his left ankle, and was having throbbing pain.

By Wednesday morning, he couldn’t walk at all, so I got a wheelchair from the hotel. Now I know why wheelchair people have strong arms from pushing themselves. These things are heavy with someone in it, and on the slightest incline, I was getting short of breath. (Where was Jack when I needed him?) When Sandtrap sat in it at the craps table, he was almost below the rail, and looked very funny. During our second session the supervisor told me to put the wheelchair to one side, and got a regular chair for Sandtrap to sit in.

Wednesday morning Sandtrap had three short warm up rolls followed by 5 very good rolls in the teens.
This was an interesting morning for me. I started off with a roll of 4 followed by a profitable 11 roll. The only open craps table has the "all, small, tall" bet on the layout. I had made the "all" once before when I wasn’t betting it, and again this morning I made it during my 3rd roll of 28, and hadn’t bet it. It’s another one of those $1 or more bets that the house usually wins. When I am on a good roll, I tend to repeat numbers, so unless it is a particularly long roll, I don’t feel I have a chance to hit all the numbers. I stopped shooting for three turns to give my back a rest, and for some reason then decided to bet this "bonus bet" for $1 each on my next roll. I wound up with a 26 roll, and imagine my surprise when the table erupted when I hit the "all" again. I won $214 ($34 to one for the small and tall and you get your $1 back, and $175 to one for the all), and Sandtrap won $490 because he had $2 bets. We were euphoric and went to breakfast!

After breakfast we only rolled twice because the table was crowded and it was taking too long for the dice to return. Sandtrap had two short rolls of 4 and 10, so he was not a happy camper anyway. My first roll was a 4, and I had bet the bonus bet and lost it. On my second roll I bet it again. My come out roll was a 7, and wiped out all the bonus bets. I decided to try the bet one more time, but Sandtrap said no. Well, I had a 27 roll, and hit the "all" again! The stickman turned to Sandtrap saying, "I told you to bet it again," and everyone laughed.

Our afternoon session we rolled 3 times, and Sandtrap redeemed himself with profitable rolls of 20, 4, and 15. I, however stunk. And that was it for Wednesday. We couldn’t get on the craps table in the evening. This was a giveaway day of a choice of coolers or cool packs. After one hour, they ran out of coolers, and they are now on back order.

Thursday morning was up and down for both of us on an empty table. Sandtrap had rolls of 2, 10, a beautiful 30, 8, 8, and 9 frequently hitting the 6. My rolls were 4, 16, 10, 5, and 6. On my second roll of 16, I had bet and made the "all small" but never got the "all." I think I was missing the 11 or 12. We played Pai Gow, and had one more craps session in the afternoon. Sandtrap had rolls of 2, 10, 7, and 4. My rolls were 12, 8, and 14, with some nice repeating numbers. I had a bad cold, so I went to bed after dinner, and Sandtrap said he didn’t have any special rolls.

Friday morning we both had one good first roll, followed by two bad ones. My first roll was a 22 with all repeating numbers, so it was very profitable. After my third roll we decided to quit and keep our profits. We also had to get to the orthopedist by 3:30pm. It turns out Sandtrap has a very bad sprain (the ankle was now swollen) but doesn’t remember how he did it, and now has an air cast for walking. Our life is certainly never dull.

What a fun trip. You had the good, the bad and the ugly as we all do. The short rolls do happen but as you show, the good rolls always seem to bring in a long term profit. I know you and Sandtrap always use the GTC principles and that is why you are advantage players. Rose and Doc can’t wait until we see you in AC next month.

Thanks for your usual good post.

Enjoyed your report, sorry I missed the trip. This is a good example that you can’t keep a good man down Mr. C, hope you have a quick recovery on the ankle, see you in March. TheUsualSuspect, Semper Fi carry on 😀 😀

Has Charlie taken to kicking slot machines after sevening out at the end of a good roll like someone else whom we all know? If so that could explain the sprained ankle. 🙂

Hope he feels better soon and congrats on the good trip.

Hi Goddess,
I always enjoy reading your trip reports. You do tell us the good, bad and the ugly which helps us all learn that even instructors for GTC have bad rolls from time to time. Thanks and glad to hear Sandtrap is doing better.

Hmmm I have never played the small ,tall or all .But IT should not go down so quick with that point 7 out what an advantage for the casinos .I think that if you have a come out 7 with the fire it stays up ????
So does that mean if you have long roll with come out 7s you loose that bet ??? It sounds like you have to make all the numbers with out the 7 as a winner also .
It seems that a lot of long rolls have come out 7s at times even when you don’t set for them . Just a thought .
Good Rolling. 😀 😀

Fire bet stays up until the "final" 7-out and roll is over

I don’t play the all tall / all small

But, I love the fire bet and Colorado Sharpshooter bet

Yes, Finisher, any 7 will bring all the bets down, which is another way for the house to make money. Since I frequently have come out 7’s (as many as 7 in a row), that is another reason why I hesitate to make this bet, as well as the fact that Sandtrap and I tend to repeat numbers. I have seen bets from $1 to $100 on the all, tall, small. We all know the house never puts in a bet that isn’t to its advantage, but when we feel our shot is particularly good, we can’t resist trying to make it. This bet is only on one table in this casino, and we rarely bet it, so we are losing very little when we don’t hit it. Sandtrap made $1000 on his two bets that I hit, which was real profit since he only lost $12 on that bet the rest of the session. (I lost even less as I only bet $1 each.)

I never make this bet when I shoot

I may do it on a CF-er because based on my experience, CF-ers can hit 2,3,11,12 sometimes more frequently than a 6 or 8. I once saw a CF-er only have the 6 and 8 left to hit to get the all tall/small

But, I’d rather bet $5 on the fire bet — that one I know I can hit

Is there a max. on this bet ??
