Vegas May 31-June 4

Spread the love

Was in Vegas for some of my continuing education. When over a day early and had a day and a half for just gambling.

Stayed off strip first 3 days and moved to Strip on Friday and Saturday. Won’t try to itemize each of the casinos I hit but will say I was up double digit for the entire trip.

First roll was 39 and that was the longest for the trip. Had my next best roll on Sunday (a 27) before leaving for home. Had three other rolls in the 20s. Had 19 other rolls that were more than 7. Had 7 point seven out rolls. Rolled the dice 60 times for a total of 541 rolls.

Casinos I rolled at had bonus bets of Repeater or ATS. I would have made more but even though I hit the repeater once and part of the ATS twice I was net down triple digit on those bonus bets. While I don’t keep track of my tips I know that my tips totaled more than my net win.

All of the off strip play was at $5 tables. Half the Strip play was $5 table with the rest $10 table except for one time a $15 table. At lunch on one of my CEU days, I bought in at a $10 table but the nice never got to me and I won triple digit on some one who hit the 10 multi times that I was on.

Sally mostly plays VP and his 4 royals on nickel machine. I also played a little PiaGow and was a small winner.

Had one thing happen that I’m not sure was handled correctly at the table. I was rolling and had made a point and then had a comet sever which wiped out my ATS. Dealer tried to talk me into renewing the ATS and then gave the dice to someone else. There were only the two of us at the table. As I was recording the new comet number I realized that I had not severed out and should be rolling. Dealer left the new point bu gave me the dice. Was that the way it should have handled? I’m not sure, but didn’t make an issue of it. I had a pass line bet already .

In my humble opinion after the dice were incorrectly passed and a new point was established I think the roll establishing the new point should have been ruled a no roll–after all the dice should have been in your hands. You could have then correctly gotten the dice and established the new point and the game continuing from there.

Just an idea from the peanut gallery.

In retro, I think you are right Doc. The new point was six and I was happy with it soon just went with the flow.

They are not going to declare it a no roll since you had the advantage when he rolled the dice for the come out. Their money was at risk on the come out and they would have paid you if it were a winner. You would not be happy with them declaring it a no roll if he had rolled a come out winner (7/11). Now that he has established a point the advantage swung over to the house and they are not going to give that away nor should they.

What they did was handle it as if the player established a point and left the table. In those situations the dice pass to the next player to complete the roll.

Skinny, obviously you are correct–letting the game continue was the right decision. But since it was such a small amount–only a few pass line bes, I do think it would be good customer PR to declare a no roll, give the dice back to the person who should be rolling and move forward.

In a a little different " less than following the rules strictly" situation, here is what the supervisor did on one occasion many years ago.

Rose and Doc were in New Mexico playing with Goldfinger. Goldfinger had the dice and on about the 14th or 15th roll he rolled a 7 out. The supervisor was watching and declared it a no roll. To say the players at the table were super happy would be an understatement. The players went crazy. Goldfinger continued to roll and had a 42 before his 7 out. I might add there were no big players at the table. We left shortly thereafter with a very nice profit but most players stayed and lost big time before they quit for the night. We came back around and watched.

Doc had the opportunity to talk to the supervisor after he colored up and the supervisor said "we do that type of thing from time to time. The customers love it and keep coming back, losing more because of their frequent trips to the casino."

My point being–go a little overboard for the customers and they will love you. True in any business.

I agree completely Doc. The casino has wide latitude in the decisions they make at the table.

I too think it would have been better for them to declare it a no roll and give the dice back to ACPA.

My explanation was to answer the original question,

Was that the way it should have handled?

They followed the rules but lost an opportunity for customer relations. As you said,

since it was such a small amount–only a few pass line bes, I do think it would be good customer PR to declare a no roll

That would have been the smart move.

I was at a table and a dealer was standing where the boxman should be sitting holding the tip can trying to get the guys at stick left to throw tips at the can like it was a basketball hoop, well he succeeded but the problem was they threw the tips right when I released the dice and they had a mide air collision sure enough it cam up seven out I went crazy.

The floor manager came over I was so hot I told him just go watch the camera, or better yet you can just hear about it after I send an email to the right person I was livid and I walked away hopping made, well about 20 minutes go by, I have gone back to my room and the phone in my room rings it is the second in charge of the casino calling me to come down stairs she wants to talk to me, so I go.

You wont believe it the camera caught it all and it got funny from there, the floor manager tells me how security calls them and tells them they gotta come see this so the 2nd in charge goes up to security and sure enough plain as day it is all there they sent the dealer home they asked me how much money I had on the table and gave it all back right off the table yes the 2nd told a dealer at the table to cut out ex amount and give it to me, offered to give me the dice to shoot right then offered me dinner explained how sorry they where and how wrong the dealer was, never have I been so impressed with customer service as I was then, I love this casino why because I know they care about their customers!

There are still people in this business that understand that it is about the player gotta love them.
