What should I have done in this situation?

On my last trip something happened that caught me by surprise. As I said in my previous post I had been playing at several casino’s on my trip and rolled pretty well on a 12 foot table standing at SL1. When I got to the next casino it was back to 10 foot tables and I waited out SL1 but the guy never left so I decided to take SL2. I felt pretty comfortable at that position and there was plenty of room to my left. What happened next really caught me off guard. A guy walks up behind me when I was not rolling (keep in mind I was shoulder to shoulder with the guy standing at SL1 and plenty of room at the table to my left) and says, mind if I squeeze in here? He wasn’t really asking as he was already pushing his way in before I realized it. He placed his chips in a small spot between me and SL1 and pushed his way in. Pretty much forcing me to move one position to my left. If I would have been more prepared I would have stood my ground but I had never experienced that before. Has this happened to anyone here before? If so what did you do?

I always have a chair at the table, so it’s harder for someone to squeeze in, since I’m not moving. Even so, I have had it happen a couple of times. When it did, I said, “As long as you step back to give me room when I have to shoot, and I’ll do the same for you.” I’m saying it politely, but when I have the dice, I take the room I need whether anyone likes it or not. On both occasions, when they saw me throw, they stepped back and said, “Take all the room you need!”

I expect aggression at the table, so that doesn’t bother me. The ones I get tired of are the whiners, who thinks it’s everyone else’s fault they’re losing money.

I have had something like this happen twice. The first time I was at SL1 on a 14′ table that already had ballooned to about 12 people. This is more at the table than I like because it takes a long time to get the dice back after a hand. I was thinking about quitting when a guy that was standing behind me was invited by the box to ‘squeeze in’ between SL1 and SL2. So, he literally squeezed in and that made me shoulder to shoulder with him and the stickman. That made my decision to quit easy. There is no way I could roll in that situation even if I wanted to. Afterward, I wondered if it was petty harassment by the boxman. The second time a guy who turned out to be a dice influencer asked if he could squeeze in. I told him he could and he could take SL1 if he wanted. He said he would shoot from SL1-1/2 if I would move back when it was his turn. I agreed and everything worked out fine. We had good conversation and I enjoyed the experience.

Oh man preacher I know what you mean about the whining!!! They feel nobody throws the bones better than they do, so they grab them shake’em up and sling them down the table and whine again because they didn’t make the hard 10!!! Don’t play if you can’t tolerate the loss and stop making the the crazy crapper bets!!! I would rather go and kick a slot machine!!!! 😀 😆

There’s a guy at my home casino; top tier card, who always steps up and asks for SL1. He says you’re guaranteed to win money. In the past, I’ve said “I’ve seen you shoot and I always lose! Next time I’m going to say “you give me $100 to bet on your roll and I’ll give you back the $100 when your roll is over if I’ve won!” We’ll see how that goes over. Last time, I did give him SL2 and told him I’d give him all the room he needed, he sucked! 😆

Just leave the grief there Will take away any advantage you have casinos are open 24 hours a day seven days a week if you’re patient and play to your advantage game you’ll find the proper time to play fighting with someone over a spot going nose to nose with someone over a bad not having elbow room to play is just a recipe for a disaster

Players forcing their way onto the table is common in the casinos in CT. This is how I dealt with it once:

I was on SR1 with with an ederly player on my left. He was sitting in a chair and had diffculty with placing his bets on the table so I was helping him. Then a guy decided to muscle his way in between us. I said something to him but it did not matter. I looked at dealer for some help here and he did nothing.
I picked up my chips was ready to leave when my rolling partner (another GTC advanced graduate) said go back to your spot and let him get all his bets up then
set the all seven set and roll a seven. So went back and waited for the dice. When the dice arrived I used the hard way set and let the guy load up the table
with nearly all his chips. My partner gives me the thumbs up and tells everyone on his side on the table to take all their bets down. They question him and he
replies " a seven is coming next". They ask how do you know that ? My partner replies just do it. I take all my bets down including my odds on the place bet.
I set the all seven set, take a deep breath and let them fly – they hit the back and land with 4-3. perfect! the dealer says " I know what you just did"
I respond – I have no idea what you are talking about. I pick up my chips and say to the guy – do not ever crowd me again and leave with a big simile.

I would say NO!!! I was nice to let a guy squeeze into SL 1.5 once at a 14 foot table in CT and the A-hole was a "don’t better" and he would not move out of the way for the shooter at SL2 and he was on a hot roll. I now tell them. Sorry it would be too crowded for you, find another spot.
